Catherine Hammond

Catherine Hammond Catherine Hammond translates the poetry of Olvido García Valdés from the Spanish. The book, Y todos estábamos vivos/And We Were All Alive, won Spain’s most important prize, El Premio Nacional, in 2007. Mid-American Review will publish a chapbook of some of these translations, House Surrounded by Scaffold, in the fall of 2010. Individual translations are forthcoming from Field, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Words Without Borders, and Salt River Review. Hammond’s MFA is from Arizona State University. Hammond is the founder and moderator for Tempe Poetry in April. Her own poems have appeared in the Chicago, North American, Laurel reviews, and many others.
