Mary Collins ran a freelance writing and editing business for 20 years in the Washington, DC area and taught at Johns Hopkins before coming to CCSU in 2007. Her latest book, American Idle: A Journey Through Our Sedentary Culture, won the grand prize for the best book by an independent press at the Indie Book Awards for 2010 and Honorable Mention in the Best Nonfiction Book of the Year 2010 from the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) in New York City.
