Michael J. Peery

Michael J. Peery received his BFA at Utah State University in 1992 and his MFA at the New York Academy of Art, cum laude, in 2000. While at the New York Academy of Art, Michael received multiple scholarships for excellence, The Gamblin Award for outstanding student and the first annual Forbes Award to paint in Northern France. In 2006, Michael received the James DuPaul Award for best in show at the North East Regional Exhibition in Woodstock, New York, and in 2008, The Prince of Whales Foundation Award for best in show at the Summer Salon in NYC, which allowed him to go back and paint in France. His most recent acknowledgment is an article in the March 2010 issue of American Artist magazine. Since 1999, Michael has been working as a teacher, lecturer, and demonstrator of Fine Arts principles in and around New York City and New England. He has taught at the New York Academy of Art, the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art, the Woodstock School of Art in New York, and he is currently teaching at Rhode Island School of Design and Rhode Island College. His paintings have been accepted into juried shows throughout New York City and the Northeast, including exhibitions at the Dahesh Museum, the Arnot Museum, and the Fort Wayne Museum in Indiana. His work hangs in numerous public and private collections including Jean-Louis Dumas-Hermes, the Prince of Whales Foundation, and the Forbes Foundation.

Michael currently works and resides in New London, Connecticut.
