Stephanie Schlaifer, Cheryl Wassenaar and All Along Press
Cheryl Wassenaar is a visual artist who explores the function of text in a hybrid practice of painting, sculpture, and design. Wassenaar is currently Associate Professor at Washington University in St Louis: http://samfoxschool.wustl.edu/portfolios/faculty/cheryl_wassenaar. Stephanie Schlaiferis a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and herpoems have appeared in numerous journals, including Fence, Verse, Colorado Review, and Chicago Review. Steven Brien and Elysia Mann are graduates of the printmaking program at Wash. U. They founded the collaborative print shop All Along Press http://www.allalongpress.com/ in St. Louis, where they produce hand-printed literary and visual editions.
About the book: Using the text from Schlaifer's poem "Swath," Wassenaar created a visual reinterpretation of the text in the Sheldon Art Galleries' windows for the collaborative, site-specific installation Re/Collect. All Along Press then printed an edition of 50 small books based on Wassenaar's original design. The poem first appeared in Carolina Quarterly, and the author expresses her tremendous gratitude to the editors.
