El Río

Arrodillada
sobre un yagual,
agachada sobre una piedra,
mi mamá lava
lava y lava.

Mi hermanita,
cubierta con hojas de sauce
duerme en un canasto,
Yo, sentado
sobre un pajonal,
miro cómo se va el agua
y cómo se queda el río.

The river

Kneeling
on a yagual,
bent over a stone,
my mother washes
washes
and washes.

My little sister,
covered with willow leaves
sleeps in a basket.

Sitting
on a pile of straw,
I see the way water leaves
and the way the river stays
