Viorel Cacoveanu

Viorel Cacoveanu

Viorel Cacoveanu is one of Romania’s best known satirical playwrights and fiction authors. During the Communist regime the undertones of his plays and short stories have often hidden sharp critiques of the realities of those times. After 1990 Cacoveanu refuses, according to his own confession, to join any literary or political gang. He loves the truth that is not trimmed, groomed, or imposed. His age? The age when man still has hopes but no time for hopes.
