Honestly,

when I was coursing through these reviews for the last time before gathering them together for this section, I found myself out of breath because of how stimulating each was to read, one after another. I already knew the books being reviewed were artistic not-to-be-misses, but feeling buzzed from reviews?! At that moment, being a reviews editor was thrilling. Read them and you’ll see—

You love books. There are so many recently published, and so much hype surrounding publishing, that one’s love of the truly new­­—new books—can get occluded. What you find here will renew.

The themes and forms of the books reviewed in this issue are wide ranging. In addition to recently published works by a mix of emerging and better-known writers, you’ll find an interview with a co-publisher of Flim Forum Press about his quest to repair the omission of Paul Hannigan’s poetry within the landscape of contemporary poetry, and reprints of two books by Peter Handke reviewed, affording an opportunity to re-visit his work—

Shira Dentz is the author of two books, black seeds on a white dish (Shearsman, 2011), and door of thin skins (CavanKerry, 2013), and two chapbooks, Leaf Weather (Tilt/Shearsman, 2012), and Sisyphusina (forthcoming from Red Glass Books). Her writing has appeared widely in journals including The American Poetry Review, The Iowa Review, and New American Writing, and featured online at The Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day series, NPR, Poetry Daily, OmniVerse, and Verse Daily. She is the recipient of an Academy of American Poets’ Prize, the Poetry Society of America’s Lyric Poem and Cecil Hemley Memorial Awards, Electronic Poetry Review’s Discovery Award, and Painted Bride Quarterly’s Poetry Prize. A graduate of the Iowa Writers‘ Workshop, she has a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Utah, and is currently Lecturer in Creative Writing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
