It’s a great delight to share Sarah J. Sloat’s metamorphic collage poetry and striking ‘poem boxes’ as our first guest poet of 2024! Her mixed media collages, erasures, and ‘poem boxes’ inspire and expand what one can express in visual poetry. When I interact with her poetry I feel reminded of the many possibilities in engaging in The Great Conversation with prior written work. The pieces are surprising and playful while exploring themes of constraint / expansion within the restrictions of artistic form and chosen materials.
