A former Air Force public affairs officer and Afghanistan veteran, Lauren Kay Halloran holds an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College in Boston. She has studied at the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and her work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Atlantic, Glamour, Pleiades, CONSEQUENCE Magazine, and several anthologies. Additionally, her writing and interviews have been used in the creation of dance and theater productions. Lauren's in-progress memoir chronicles her coming-of-age against the backdrop of war—beginning with her mother's Army career and deployment in support of Operation Desert Storm when Lauren was seven years old and later with her own service.
