Vintage DB 25: Susan Lilley's "Aging Bride Considers Her Checkered Past," DB 13

This Throwback Thursday, get ready for a pick that will warm you from the inside out. Susan Lilley's "Aging Bride Considers Her Checkered Past" is a beautiful poem that is all at once humorous, poignant, and hopeful; a great example of how something as simple as a list can be the basis for a moving piece of poetry. Lilley's poem originally appeared in DB 13, Winter 2010-2011. "The one who stole my underwear for his collection. The one who taught me to make cornbread. The one who left me for the hula dancer..." Susan Lilley's work has been published in numerous literary journals and her collection of  poems, "Satellite Beach," is available for purchase through Finishing Line Press.
