Peter Consenstein has been writing on contemporary French poetry, experimental literature, prosody, and the group Oulipo since the mid-1980’s and has now begun to translate. He is currently completing translations of Dominique Fourcade’s IL (IT) and en laisse(on a leash). His book, Literary Memory, Consciousness and the Group Oulipo (New York, Amsterdam: Rodopi, 2002), was widely reviewed. Consenstein is a professor of French at the Borough of Manhattan Community College since 1993 and he was appointed to the faculty of the Ph.D. program in French at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, January 2005.
