Waking Life

Keeping a gown but not wearing it. Being a kept gown. Out at night in the Chagall painting the gown flies with many-colored goats. If I fly with goats it means I am unbuttoned from the cold rock, it means the night no longer owes itself only to the legs of off-black insects or to the nihilistic goats who don’t believe in the mountain. It means I stopped living on the mountain.

In the dark eye of the universe a gown orbits. I had not kept it. Lonely gown, unbuttoned gown, you will fly with goats forever outside of this world. Even gravity doesn’t want you.
