J. E. Pitts was born and raised in Mississippi. He serves as the Poetry Editor of The Oxford American magazine and is a co-founder and co-editor of VOX literary journal and Press. His first book, The Weather of Dreams, was published in 2007 by David Robert Books of Cincinnati. He currently lives in Oxford, Mississippi, where he is also a visual artist and writes and records his own rock and roll and pop music.
