Glosa on a Haiku by Buson

After a morning writing,
an afternoon raking,
I am now beyond
leaving my gate

open to tipsy neighbors
and strangers with questions.
Come in! I'll say with false gusto,
I too am someone on the road.

Why not join me
for a scotch and a slice
of hot gingerbread
this autumn evening?
