The Flood (by Nader Naderpour)
I threw a handful of blossoms on water.
A starry sky appeared.
I made a boat out of paper
(as thin as a leaf, as small as a hand)
and a little wax captain
who, like God, sailed the boat away
as far as the blossoms and stars
to undiscovered islands
that he knew by name.
Then a great western storm
capsized the boat;
the captain surrendered his steering
to the waves.
Now there is no God
in my little world.
