Aryanil Mukherjee is a bilingual is a poet, translator and editor who grew up in Kolkata, India. He has authored five books of poetry and a book of hybrid essays. Aryanil is widely published in both Indian (Bengali) and American poetry circles. He was awarded the Kabita Pakkhik Samman (Poetry Fortnightly Honor) for 2007. His English work has appeared in Znine, Maverick, Rain Taxi, Moria, Open Spaces, Jacket, Helix, Big Bridge, CRIT etc. He edits KAURAB, a celebrated Bangla literary magazine published since 1970. Aryanil has translated numerous international poets bidirectionally between English and Bangla including Francis Ponge, Binoy Majumdar, William Carlos Williams, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, John Ashbery, Utpal Kumar Basu, Frank O’Hara, Swadesh Sen, James Schuyler, Chairil Anwar, Peter Gizzi, Jean-Michel Maulpoix, Pierre Alferi, Sami Baydar and Theresa Hak Kyung Cha to name a few. His own poetry has been translated into Hindi, Spanish and Danish. Aryanil works as an engineering mathematician and lives in Cincinnati, USA.
