Lakdasa Wikkramasinghe was born in 1941 and became one of Sri Lanka’s most prominent poets, publishing many works. He has been profiled in The Encyclopedia of Post-Colonial Literature (Routledge, 1994) and blurbed by Michael Ondaatje. He died by drowning in 1978.
