Devulapalli Krishna Sastri was born in 1897 and died in 1980. His first book of poems Krishna-paksamu generated a tempest of opposition from classicists, and his lyrical style defies translation. He is considered one of the most notable poets of the Bhavakavityam period and a touchstone for Telugu poets.
