Saniyya Saleh
was born in Misyaf, part of northern Syria in 1935 and died in 1985. She is the author of two books of poetry, al-Zaman al-Dayyeq (Straitened Times, Beirut, 1964) and Hibr al-l’dam (The Ink of Execution, Damascus, 1970), the latter of which received the first prize for women’s poetry from al-Hasna’, a women’s magazine.
