Nguyen My was born in 1935, joined the army when he was sixteen years old, fighting in the battlefield in South Central Vietnam. During his lifetime he published The Battle at Quán Cau (1954), and posthumous publications include The Colors of the Rainbow (1980) and The Poetry of Nguyen My (1993).
