Jayanta Mahapatra
was born in 1928. A physicist and poet, his honors include the Jacob Glatstein Prize for poetry (1975) and the Central Sahitya Akademi Award (1981) for his collection Relationship. He writes in English and Oriya, and edits the literary journal, Chandrabhaga. He lives in Cuttack and is one of the best-known Indian English poets.
