Sylva Gaboudikian was born in Yerevan in 1919, and passed away in her hometown in 2006. One of the most famous Armenian poets and activists of the 20th century, she studied at Yerevan State University and at the Gorky Institute of Literature. Between 1945 and the year of her death she published 60 collections of poetry, and has had her work translated into many different languages.
