The Forest

                         fragments, the heart fractals

Were a single tree a fractal, what need
have we to resolve the age-old question?

Forget the thick, forget the shrouded
acorns feeding the briared floor. The food
of light distills: Askance the one tree,

you carved my name, the tree bristled

the one branch, quivering, orchestra
of its own wind.
