Michelle Cahill is an Indian writer who lives in Sydney. Her collection The Accidental Cage (IP, 2006) was short-listed in the 2007 Judith Wright Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in Asia Literary Review, Muse India, Jacket, Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, Meanjn, and forthcoming in Antipodes, Island and Southerly. Her forthcoming collection Vishvarupa is themed around Hindu gods and other deities. She has received grants and awards from the Poetry Australia Foundation, Australian Society of Authors, and the Copyright Agency Limited. Michelle co-edits the on-line journal, Mascara. In 2008, she edited a transnational collection Poetry Without Borders (Picaro). This year she is directing Metaphors of Space, a poetry and architecture event at the Sydney Writers’ Festival. Her short stories and essays have been published in journals and she is working on a fiction manuscript.
