Mike Estabrook

Mike Estabrook is a Brooklyn based artist originally from the Mississippi River town of Quincy, Illinois.  

His work is a characterized by an irreverent humor and fantastical figurative language, often addressing political or existential subjects. It moves through many different media- taking form through animation, drawing, painting, and installation. 

Estabrook's work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and non-profit spaces worldwide, including Mixed Greens, Collegium Artisticum Terezije, Sarajevo, BiH; The Queens Museum; The Bronx Museum; Quartair Fine Arts, Den Haag, NL; PPOW Fine Arts; and PS1/MOMA. 

In addition, he has been at several prestigious artist's residencies, including The MacDowell Colony; The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace program; NY Arts Bejing, China; Artists in the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum; the Rotating Studio Program at the Artist's Alliance; and LMCC's Governors Island residency. 

His work has been cited in many publications, including The New York Times, Time Out New York, The Brooklyn Rail, and L Magazine.  

He received his BFA from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and completed his MFA from Queens College in 2005.
