Christine de Pizan

This image of Christine in her study is found in the Queen's Manuscript, a collection of Christine's work produced under her direction and presented in 1414 to Queen Isabeau of Bavaria, queen consort to the beloved and mad King Charles VI.  Housed at the British Library as Harley MS 4431, the manuscript has been digitized and can be viewed online at www.bl.uk/manuscripts/FullDisplay.aspx?ref=Harley_MS_4431

Christine is portrayed here as she often is, wearing blue dress and white headpiece. A little white dog keeps her company as she works.
