Robert Rapilly

Toward Oulipo

Photo of Robert Rapilly

Robert Rapilly has been a poet since childhood; he is also a carpenter, architect and painter. He teaches French to adults, principally to immigrants. Convivial and cooperative, he takes great professional and literary joy in animating Oulipian workshops. In his view, the love and mastery of language is better revealed in students who strive to become deft craftsmen as opposed to scholarly erudites. Rapilly writes a regular literary column for the journal Les Nouvelles d'Archimède.

Every October, Robert Rapilly organizes an Oulipian festival called "Zazie mode d'emploi".
